Welcome to The Musical Society of Victoria

The Musical Society of Victoria (MSV) was founded in 1861 and has promoted the development of young musicians for 150 years.  Many of Victoria's finest musicians, who have acclaimed national and international careers, belonged to the MSV in their formative performance years.

MSV provides a friendly, supportive environment in which music lovers can enjoy music performance.  In order to develop their skills and talent, it is essential that young musicians have opportunities to perform  and  listen to others perform.

There are seven MSV District Centres across Melbourne, each of which holds regular concerts for members to gain confidence and experience in solo or ensemble work.

MSV has established a system of scholarships for young musicians and each year over $10,000 is distributed in awards. The award pathway begins with younger performers, moves through to state and national level competitions and to those wanting to study overseas.

Prize winners and finalists appear in public concerts allowing all the opportunity to hear these outstanding developing artists.

All these activities are managed by volunteers .  Participating in any of the MSV activities can be a most rewarding experience for individuals and the whole family.
